Segway - “Monster Truck” version

Remember the Segway two-wheeled gyroscope balanced transporter? Now the original Segway HT (Human Transporter) has two new siblings - the XT (Xtreme-Terrain Transporter) and the GT (Golf Transporter). The XT has "monster truck" wheels, off-road performance and a mud-splattering ride.

The wide low pressure tires give a reasonably smooth ride over uneven terrain. Fenders should protect the rider from most of the mud and debris. It won’t go fast enough to get in too much trouble in the boondocks. Link to "Big Foot" version here and golf version here.

As far as replacing the mountain bike - my guess is it will never happen. I don’t think they will get much further away from paved roads as the golf course. If the “big foot” version becomes popular, I will be surprised.

1st came the Bicycle, then eventually, very eventually that is, came the Mtn. Bike. Jus the thing for all my fellow cyclists who get their jollies by traipsing thru the forest, and the mountains. I thought the original Segway was pretty cool, and get a kick every time I see the one on the loose in Costa Mesa being driven around. But THESE new versions? Are Mtn. Bikers now gonna see their territory invaded by this newcomer?
