Who had the bright idea to use it as a separation symbol in e-mail addresses?
It needed to be a character that would never appear in someone’s name.
The @ sign was a clever choice for the character separating the e-mail “user” name and the “from” name.
The choice was more than clever - it was pure genius. The @ sign represented the word "at," as in john@myisp.com.
