The Justice Department claims the law disproportionately harms Hispanic residents.
Republicans say the move was aimed at boosting President Obama’s reelection prospects.
Thomas Perez, head of the Justice Department’s civil rights division said “Hispanics disproportionately lack either a driver’s license or a personal identification card.”
It is very easy to get a personal identification care if the applicant is in the United States legally.
The Obama administration is counting on illegal immigrants to vote for the president in November.
