Innisfree is a tiny windswept island off the coast of Co Donegal in Ireland with only one inhabitant - artist Barry Edgar Pilcher.
He is the only permanent resident of the island where he is an artist who also writes poetry and plays music.
Once a week – weather permitting – the 69-year-old makes the 15 minute boat journey to Burtonport, where he does his weekly shopping, mails letters and then it’s back to his ramshackle cottage where he lives and works in a single room.

Once a year, his wife and daughter, who are both nurses living in Essex, England visit him. The rest of the time they communicate via Skype.
