With one of the strongest holiday shopping seasons in years, a surge in hiring by retailers helped lower California's unemployment rate in November to its lowest level in almost four years.
Most if not all of the employees hired for the strong holiday shopping season will be back in the ranks of the unemployed on January 2.
Not included in the statistics are those who want to work but are financially better off staying at home receiving government handouts.
Also, there is no mention of the people who have been leaving the state in droves and how their numbers reduce the unemployed totals.
