Dick Cheney gets heart translplant

Former Vice President Dick Cheney (pictured) received a heart transplant on Saturday.

The 71-year-old is now recovering in the intensive care unit of Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia near Washington, D.C.

The former vice president and his family do not know the identity of the donor, however, they will be forever grateful for this lifesaving gift, according to a family statement.

Cheney, who served as President George W. Bush's vice president from 2001 to 2009, has a long history of heart problems.

He suffered his first heart attack at age 37 and his fifth in 2010.

In 1988, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery and has had several other heart surgeries since then, including multiple angioplasties and the implantation of a pacemaker.

Report White House was all-hands-on-deck as Solyndra collapse neared

When the Obama administration had information that needs to be made public but can be a bit of an embarrassment, they do a late Friday release hoping that it won’t get much notice so close to the weekend. It has been called the “Friday document dump.”

This Friday document dump reports that:

Several key White House offices were involved with the Obama administration’s messaging plans and other preparations as the collapse of the taxpayer-backed solar company Solyndra was imminent, newly released documents show.

The latest White House documents delivered to House Republicans on Friday again highlight the extent to which senior administration officials braced for the fallout as Solyndra – a company President Obama had personally visited – was about to go under.

A White House memo that noted the danger of “imminent bankruptcy” at the end of August 2011 says, “OMB, DPC and NEC have been working with press and OLA to be prepared for this news to break.”

Why shouting Racism doesn't work anymore

Because of slavery (Democrats did it), KKK violence (Democrats did it), segregation (Democrats did it), Jim Crow laws (Democrats did it) and other historic abuses heaped on black Americans in our country by the Democratic Party and its supporters, America has been a bit oversensitive about race for the last few decades.

Of course, the political party responsible for all of that racism is now the one shouting, "You're a racist," and trying to pit different racial groups against each other.

The Democrat Party has always tried to generate racial strife; it just uses a little different strategy today than it did in the past.

Democrats are finding that the race card just doesn't work as well as it did in the good old days.

There was a time when a condemnation by Jesse Jackson (above left) or Al Sharpton (above right) produced actual fear as opposed to eye rolls and laughter [as it does now].

It wasn't so long ago that being called racist was a threat, as opposed to just being more of an annoyance today. That has only changed in the last few years for a few select reasons.

Tebow can add potent wildcat presence for Jets

New York Jets Coach Rex Ryan said after the acquisition of Tim Tebow, "Instead of a team just preparing for our base offense, they will have to prepare for what we do and what we may do."

Each time Tim Tebow (pictured) steps on the field for the New York Jets, defenses will know what to expect.

Well, the unexpected, of course.

"Tim is an outstanding football player, and we can use him," Ryan said. "He'll fit our wildcat package.

As a defensive coach, I know how hard it is to defend the wildcat.

We can take it to another level with Tim. We will have things for Tebow each week."

A Peyton Manning nemesis signs with Broncos

The Denver Broncos have agreed to terms with free-agent cornerback Tracy Porter (pictured at right and below), who picked off one of Peyton Manning's passes in the New Orleans Saints' win over the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl three years ago.

Now, both will try to win a second Super Bowl together in Denver.

Porter played in New Orleans the last four years.

The highlight of Porter’s career was a 74-yard interception return for a TD in the Super Bowl that denied Manning a second championship.

The lower photo shows the back of Porter’s head because that’s were his best tattoo’s are.

Coroner releases cause of Whitney Houston’s death

Whitney Houston (pictured) was a chronic cocaine user who had the drug in her system when she drowned in a hotel bathtub, coroner’s officials said Thursday after releasing autopsy findings that also noted heart disease contributed to her death.

The disclosure ended weeks of speculation about what killed the Grammy-winning singer on Feb. 11 on the eve of the Grammy Awards.

Houston was found submerged in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and her death was ruled accidental.

Several bottles of prescription medications were found in her hotel room, but coroner’s officials said there were none in excessive quantities.

Beverly Hills police said there was no evidence of wrongdoing in connection with Houston’s death.
