Obama pledges action this month to quickly go after immigration reform and gun control.
An Obama administration official said the president plans to push for immigration reform this January.
The official, who spoke about legislative plans only on condition of anonymity, said that coming standoffs over deficit reduction are unlikely to drain momentum from other priorities.
The White House plans to push forward quickly, not just on immigration reform but gun control laws as well.
It is unclear what type of immigration policies the White House plans to push in January and no details on what sort of gun control legislation the White House will seek.
If Obama can’t get his way with a Democrat Senate and a House with a somewhat divided and wavering Republican majority he may get what he wants by issuing executive orders as he has done many times in the last four years.
