Firefighters removed a body found inside a water tank on the rooftop of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles on Tuesday, February 19.
Tourists staying at the hotel bathed, brushed teeth and drank water from a tank in which a young woman's body was likely decomposing for more than two weeks, police said.
The hotel is located in downtown Los Angeles at 6th and Main near the city's skid row. It was once frequented by the rich and famous during Hollywood's Golden Age.
It lost its luster in later years, and even became a haunt for infamous serial killers such as Austrian serial killer Jack Unterweger and Richard "Night Stalker" Ramirez.
The budget hotel now caters to younger travelers.
