New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (pictured) talked about struggles with his weight, saying his doctor has warned him that his “luck is going to run out relatively soon.”
Christie’s weight has long been a defining characteristic. In his successful 2009 run for governor, incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine ran ads accusing Christie of “throwing his weight around.”
The outspoken Christie won despite the Corzine “fat ads.”
Charismatic governor Christie remains popular despite his weight as his approval rating has topped 70 percent in recent months.
Most politicians would give their left arm for a 70 percent approval rating.
