Geraldo Rivera, who hosts a weekend show on Fox News Channel, said Thursday he's seriously thinking about running for U.S. Senate in New Jersey.
Rivera may challenge either Senator Frank Lautenberg or Newark Mayor Cory Booker -- both Democrats.
At 89, Lautenberg is the oldest sitting U.S. senator. He hasn't said if he will seek re-election.
No Republican has formally announced an interest in running. Rivera said he would run as a Republican.
We like this caricature drawing of Geraldo. It seems to capture his arrogance, irreverence and spontaneity.
We have said before that humans have three primal fears:
1. Fear of heights.
2. Fear of snakes.
3. Fear that Geraldo Rivera would land an eight-hour daily TV program on all channels.
