Oberlin College in Ohio suspended all classes on Monday after someone "wearing a hood and robe resembling a KKK outfit" was spotted near the Afrikan Heritage House on campus, the school said.
According to the Oberlin website, the Afrikan Heritage House is "the center of activity for students who want to heighten their understanding of cultures, traditions, and issues among African, African-American, and Afrikan-Caribbean societies."
More than 1,000 turned out for a Demonstration of Solidarity at Oberlin College on Monday after classes were suspended.
Classes at the historic Ohio college resumed Tuesday, but an investigation into the latest of several racially-charged incidents remains ongoing.
