The bankrupt Hostess Brands is moving ahead with plans to sell its Twinkies, and one of the new owners says the spongy cream-filled snacks could be back on shelves by summer.
Hostess had planned to sell its cakes, which include Ding Dongs and Ho Hos, by auction. However, there were no other qualified bidders other than Metropoulos & Co and and Apollo Global Management.
Apollo’s investments include the fast-food chains Carl's Jr. and Hardee's.
