Once again Mr. Obama is counting on his adoring media not to challenge him after making another half-true declaration when he said in a speech at the Business Roundtable headquarters in Washington, D.C., that raising the debt ceiling does not raise our debt.
Of course raising the debt ceiling does not increase debt - not directly anyway. What it does do is allow debt to be raised anytime after the ceiling is raised.
It’s like asking your credit card company to increase your credit limit. Raising you credit limit does not increase your debt. It does, however, allow you to increase your debt anytime you want to after your credit limit is raised.
Once again Mr. Obama is counting on his ability to say whatever he chooses without being challenged by ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and MSNBC.
