Squirrel Unlimited's second annual World Championship Squirrel Cook-off caught the fancy of Travel Channel’s “worm eater” Andrew Zimmern as well as curiosity-seekers and rednecks everywhere.
This year's culinary creations ranged from squirrel with cashews and spring rolls to Caribbean jerk squirrel and fried bananas.
The winner this year was squirrel sausage.
Last year's concoctions included minced squirrel brains with cream cheese in pastry dough.
On the old Beverly Hillbillies TV series Granny liked to cook hog jowls fried in possum grease. Sounds downright yummy compared to minced squirrel brains.
Does any of it taste like chicken?
I can't wait for the Possum cook-off.
