The United States is considering launching a punitive strike against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
President Obama is hoping the United States Congress will vote to give him authority to take military action against Syria.
Congress will not return to Washington until Sept. 9 so the immediate action Mr. Obama wanted will just have to wait for at least another week.
