Remember when Barack Obama promised, “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan”.
If you’re one of the 160,000 employees of Walgreens who got dumped out of the company plan, Obama’s hollow promise doesn’t apply to you. Instead, those 160,000 Walgreens employees will be receiving a flat-rate bonus to buy their own healthcare coverage in private exchanges when ObamaCare rolls out in a few days.
Right now the Walgreens emoployees may be receiving enough money to buy insurance. But what about the future when health care costs increase?
Walgreens follows a long list of other companies such as Sears Holdings and Darden Restaurants. Darden Restaurnats include Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, The Capital Grille, Eddie V's and Yard House.
These companies are dropping healthcare and giving employees cash instead to go buy their own insurance from the insurance exchanges. When their insurance costs go up they will need to pay the increases out of their own pockets.
