Russian President Vladimir Putin has been nominated for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.
A record 278 candidates, including 47 organizations, received nominations for the 2014 prize.
Pope Francis and former U.S. National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden also received nominations.
Putin is just as deserving for the prize as some previous winners:
This award was announced before Mr. Obama was sworn in as President of the United States. His experience as a community organizer in south Chicago apparently qualified him for the peace prize.
Gore was awarded this prize for sounding a global warming alarm as a non scientist.
This award was for his “ efforts to create peace in the Middle East." Arafat was opposed to the existence of Israel. He spent much of his life fighting against Israel which apparently qualified him for the peace prize.
