Husband and wife team of Patty and Allen Eckman (shown below in a 1988 photo) share a passion for cast paper sculpture.
Since 1988, the couple have been creating large-scale intricate three-dimensional masterpieces using just handmade, acid-free paper. Based in South Dakota, Patty and Allen say they find inspiration for their art in the landscape, the wildlife, and the history of their surroundings.
To create those sculptures they first mix an acid -free paper, then casting it into originally designed silicone rubber molds. The paper is pressed and water is extracted using vacuum pressure.
The report at the second link shows how they turn paper sculptures into bronze castings.
...hat tip to Twila Bauer for leading us to paper artists
