The so-called summer blockbusters "Transformers 4" and "22 Jump Street" did not perform well over the July 4th holiday weekend.
After two spectacular record-breaking years, the July Fourth weekend’s box office just heaped on more summer misery at the multiplex.
The holiday weekend saw a gigantic drop of 46 percent in box-office receipts for the top 12 movies, with little beyond “Transformers” drawing a crowd.
And “Transformers” wasn’t that great according to a critic who said, “Instead of going to see the movie Transformers 4 I had the crazy guy who lives at the dump throw lawnmower parts and scream at me for three hours.”
Maybe Hollywood is spending too much time and money swooning over Mr. Obama on his frequent trips to Tinseltown and not enough time and money to go back to making films people want to see.
What am I saying - they haven’t made really good movies in decades.
