Supporters of Hindu nationalist Narendra Modi, the prime ministerial candidate for India's main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), climb the poles of a temporary tent to get a glimpse of Modi during an election campaign rally at Mathura in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
The Los Angeles NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) chapter that withdrew its lifetime achievement award to embattled Clippers owner Donald Sterling last month honored Al Sharpton with its “Person of the Year” award on Thursday evening, in Sterling's absence.
Al Sharpton - Donald Sterling
The NAACP chapter distanced itself from Sterling after gossip website TMZ released a recording of Sterling using racial language in a conversation with his mistress. The NBA has voted to ban Sterling and wants him to sell the team.
Sharpton has his own history of racial controversy, including false accusations in the racially charged Tawana Brawley case, inciting anti-Jewish mobs in New York in the early 1990s, and fanning racial outrage in the Trayvon Marin case.
It seems the Los Angeles NAACP chapter was determined to honor a racist one way or another by withdrawing an award from a white racist an giving an award to a black racist.
The chief watchdog for the Department of Veterans Affairs confirmed Thursday that his office is working with federal prosecutors to weigh whether criminal charges are warranted in the health care scandal at a Phoenix VA facility.
VA Secretary Eric Shinseki (pictured) told the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Thursday, "any allegation, any adverse incident like this makes me mad as hell."
The scandal at the Phoenix division involved an off-the-books list allegedly kept to conceal long wait times as up to 40 veterans died waiting to get an appointment. Officials were accused of cooking the books to hide the fact that veterans were waiting more than 14 days, the target window.
Veterans who’s healthcare was compromised by this scandal are the ones who should be "mad as hell."
Many are saying VA Secretary Eric Shinseki should resign.
What has been happening to veterans at some veterans hospitals illustrates how healthcare will be under full fledged ObamaCare.
