After more than 20 years as a fixture at auction events, Spanky Assiter of Canyon’s Assiter Auctioneers has been replaced as lead auctioneer of the popular Barrett-Jackson collector car auctions.
“Basically, Craig Jackson (Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson) and I have just had a parting of the ways,” Assiter said, “I wouldn’t say there was a major dispute. We just kind of parted right now.” Translation: it was sudden and not an amicable separation.
From 1992 to 2015, Spanky Assiter held court at the Barrett Jackson Collector Car Auction, billed as the greatest collector car auction in the world, with extensive televised coverage.
Spanky and his wife Amy Assiter left the Barrett Jackson group in 2015.
Assiter, (shown above) known for wearing his eyeglasses across his forehead, has been an auctioneer for 32 years, specializing in collector cars, real estate and heavy equipment. He has started his own Auctioneering firm in Amarillo, Texas.
