At first glance, it looks like someone in Hostess’ social-media department blew it. Though baseballs do touch down, typically the word “Touchdown” is associated with football. Did Hostess know that?
But then the joke may be on us.
One report said that if the goal was to get a photo of a Hostess product and the Hostess logo in front of people’s faces, the odd caption worked way better than “Home Run!” would have.
Hundreds of giggling Twitter users retweeted the apparent mistake, so every one of their followers saw the Hostess brand.
We think that Hostess cleverly planned this to get their product in front of lots more people than their own Twitter followers.
