A Washington state man may have set a record with the cup of coffee he ordered. It was the "The Quadriginoctuple Frap."

It was the costliest cup of coffee available at Starbucks with a price tag of $47.30.

He ordered a 52-ounce venti with 40 shots of espresso, Frappuccino soy mocha drizzle, and basically everything else on the menu.

He placed the order on his birthday and the baristas gave him the $47.30 drink for free!

We wonder how many hours he bounced off the walls after drinking the monster?

Burger King had its official Twitter account compromised on Monday.

As if that wasn’t enough they added insult to injury by saying the Whopper flopped and the fast-food chain "just got sold to McDonalds!"

While sifting through e-mails destined for the recycle bin, one caught my eye. The subject line said, Skinny Chicks Don't Eat Salads.

The e-mail came from Amazon. I’ve purchased books from them in the past and now they are trying to turn me into their best customer so I get a lot of e-mails from them.

That catchy phrase turned out to be the title of a diet book. Although it may be a good diet book, the title is a turnoff. The title tells us the book needs a gimmick in order to sell.

Skinny chicks may not need to eat salads. It's fat chicks that need to eat salads if they ever expect to become skinny chicks.

20,000 ER visits linked to energy drinks

The report at the link below says popular energy drinks are a rising public health problem.

The study, from a survey of U.S. hospitals by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, said that the number of emergency-room visits linked to energy drinks had doubled in four years - from 10,000 in 2007 to 20,000 in 2011.

And of the 20,000 ER visits in 2011, 42 percent had mixed the energy drink with another stimulant such as Adderal or Ritalin or with alcohol. Fifty-eight percent had consumed just the drink.

The report explains what could happen to some people. Blood pressure goes up, heart rate goes up and then they'll start to feel the effects. Heart racing, heart skipping, panic-attack symptoms and irregular heart symptoms and worse.

Energy drinks also contain other substances that are "completely unregulated" and can add to the stimulant nature of the drink.

One in four children in America on food stamps

Twenty seven percent of American children participated in the food stamps program (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) in fiscal year 2011, according to data from the United States Department of Agriculture and U.S. Census Bureau.

There is little effort to prevent program recipients from using using their food stamps in places like this.

The Obama administration has put forth a concerted effort to enroll as many families as possible in the food stamp program.

It is no secret that Washington Democrats want Americans on entitlement programs making them dependent on the government.

Alabama Republican Senator Jeff Sessions, one of the most vocal critics of the recent skyrocketing food stamp enrollment numbers and USDA’s promotion of the benefit, contends that something must be done about government policies and a USDA that he says is more interested in enrolling Americans in the program than finding real solutions.

Frankenfish soon ready for dinner table

The GM (genetically modified) salmon will soon be ready for human consumption thanks to generous funding ($494,000.00) from the USDA.

These genetically modified Atlantic salmon have two foreign DNA sequences inserted into their genomes.

One encodes a growth hormone from Chinook salmon. The other is the on-switch used by an antifreeze gene from ocean pout, an eel-like fish found in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean.

Cheerios - a bit of history

The General Mills’ Cheerios Facebook Page was recently hijacked by anti GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) protesters and appeared to have morphed into an anti-gmo campaign.

This reminds us of a bit of Cheerios history:

Most of us ate Cheerios as kids but for many of us it was more for the neat things on the outside of the box, including box-top premiums, than for the taste of the cereal inside the box.

We thought at the time that the Cheerios box may have had about as much flavor and nutrients as the product inside the box.

Cheerios was originally called Cheerioats when it first hit the marketplace in 1941.

Cheeri O'Leary was the original mascot for Cheerioats and appeared on Cheerioats boxes in 1942.

Cheerioats' first slogan was “The Breakfast Food You’ve Always Wanted!” in 1941, followed by “Cheer up with Cheerioats” (1942).

The name changed from Cheerioats to Cheerios in 1945.

Obama will eventually regulate and tax junk food

The Obama administration changed school lunch menus forcing kids to eat ‘healthy” food. Much of it ended up in the trash.

Even if kids ate every bite of the new “healthy” meals they complained of being hungry.

Now it appears the administration will try to change the way everyone eats not just school kids.

We may soon have junk food outlawed and marijuana legalized.

We may see Medicinal Big Mac stores, selling contraband junk food, occupy spaces vacated by Medicinal marijuana stores when the pot shops move to larger quarters after pot is legalized in more states than Colorado and Washington.

If Congress does’t go along with regulating junk food Obama may do it by executive order. He has already issued over 900 executive orders. Another to tax or ban junk food would be cake walk (pun intended) for him.

Talking turkey

The Denver Post conducted a survey asking respondents what is the best way to cook a turkey?

The results:

Baking it. As with most things, traditional is best. 1158 Votes, or 39.93 %

Letting someone else cook it. I'm no fool. 1021 Votes, or 35.20 %

Grill or smoke it. It tastes great, and the smell from the grill is even better. 376 Votes, or 12.96 %

Deep-frying it. Anyone who's had it this way knows it's best. 345 Votes, or 11.89 %
