Mike Eglan has a Computerworld blog article at the link below about a new beta version of Google Maps Mobile. This application roughly pinpoints your location using the location of the cell towers your phone is connecting to.
The location feature is called “My Location” and it isn’t as good as GPS. However, Google claims that accuracy improves with use.
