The photo below shows Donald Trump holding his well publicized pledge not to run a third-party presidential bid which he signed last September.
The risk to the Republican Party if Trump runs as an Independent it the “Ross Perot effect.”
Texas billionaire Ross Perot ran for president as an Independent. He received fewer votes than either George HW Bush or Bill Clinton.
However, most of the votes for Perot would have gone to Bush hereby giving the election to Bill Clinton.
The same thing would happen now if Trump would run as an independent. There would be enough Trump votes taken away from the Republican candidate to easily elect the Democrat candidate.
From a report at the link below:
Having committed his word, Trump averred that he had "no intention" of reconsidering the promise: "I see no circumstances under which I would tear up that pledge," he said, calling the pledge "total."
Now he's mad about some opponents and outside groups announcing plans to attack him, so the thin-skinned and erratic Republican frontrunner is once again changing his tune.
But don’t worry, he'll be totally reliable on all the issues on which he's completely reversed himself in order to pander to you -- from tax increases, to abortion, to gun control, to government-run healthcare (which he still praises), to immigration rhetoric and policy, etc.
His longstanding alignment with the Democratic Party and financial support for Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid shouldn't concern you either.
